Group 1 Automotive completed the rebranding of Sterling McCall Lexus of Clear Lake on September 2, 2025, marking the latest move in a broader push to unify its dealership network across the country.
The dealership, a fixture in the Friendswood and Webster area for more than two decades, now operates as Lexus Clear Lake from its location at 18160 Gulf Freeway in Friendswood, Texas.
For residents of Clear Lake, League City, Friendswood and neighboring Bay Area communities, the change is primarily a matter of signage and letterhead. The same sales team, service technicians and management remain in place, along with the local relationships that have defined the dealership's reputation since Group 1 Automotive acquired it more than 20 years ago.
"Our customers find the same local team they know and trust, now with a clearer connection to Group 1's resources and scale," said Lyza Postell, general manager of Lexus Clear Lake. "The building's name changed, but what matters here stays the same: consistent, convenient and transparent service whether someone's buying new, bringing in their Lexus for service, or trading in their current vehicle."
The rebranding aligns with naming standards set by Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota Motor Corporation, while keeping the dealership integrated within Group 1's network of 250 dealerships representing 37 vehicle brands across the United States and United Kingdom.
The transition brings practical benefits for local customers. Lexus Clear Lake now connects buyers to resources across Group 1's entire platform, including expanded financing options, access to inventory from other Group 1 locations, transparent pricing standards enforced network-wide and online scheduling tools available at every Group 1 dealership.
"The new name formalizes its connection to the broader Group 1 platform while letting our local customers continue working with the Clear Lake dealership they've relied on—now backed by the operational discipline, technology and resources of a larger automotive group," a Group 1 spokesperson said.
The dealership continues to serve the Bay Area, offering new and certified pre-owned Lexus vehicles, financing, factory-certified service, parts and collision support to surrounding communities. Certified pre-owned vehicles undergo multi-point inspections at the factory level and are subject to reconditioning processes before sale, typically coming with limited warranty coverage that extends beyond standard used vehicle warranties.
