A harrowing incident in Memphis early on May 1st left a community shaken and one man facing serious charges after a chaotic night that took him and an infant through multiple locations across the city.
Jerry L. Stark, 34, now stands accused of domestic assault—specifically, biting an infant on the face—during what witnesses describe as an erratic rampage fueled by paranoia and panic. The disturbing saga began before dawn and unfolded like a nightmare across North Memphis, culminating in a standoff at a local restaurant where strangers had to physically intervene to protect the child.
According to court documents, Stark arrived at Memphis Wings restaurant around 1 a.m., screaming and visibly distressed while clutching the baby. But this wasn't his first stop. Witnesses reported seeing him dash through the neighborhood in increasingly frantic fashion, moving from gas station to gas station, always with the infant in his arms, desperately pleading for help. His repeated cry echoed across multiple locations: his family was trying to kill him.
Inside the restaurant, Stark's behavior deteriorated further. He dropped to the kitchen floor, still holding the child, and continued shouting for rescue. What happened next was captured in part on social media and horrified onlookers: the infant, squeezed tightly and reportedly turning blue from the pressure, bore the brunt of Stark's psychological crisis.
