Sharyn Alfonsi, a veteran 60 Minutes correspondent, expressed concern about "the spread of corporate meddling and editorial fear" at CBS News and said she is uncertain about her future at the network after pushing back on a directive to change her December segment on Venezuelans sent to a prison in El Salvador.
Alfonsi spoke publicly about the incident Thursday evening after receiving the Ridenhour Prize for Courage at the National Press Club in Washington. Her comments come as the Trump administration has increased pressure on U.S. media outlets.
The segment on Cecot prison was shelved by CBS News editor Bari Weiss.
