NEW YORK — A giant new Bluey balloon inspired by the animated series' fan-favorite episode "Christmas Swim" will debut at the 100th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, bringing the beloved blue heeler back to New York City streets.
BBC Studios and Macy's announced the holiday-themed balloon on Oct. 5. The character first appeared in the parade in 2022, followed by a "Keepy Uppy" balloon from 2023 through 2025.
The new balloon, designed by Ludo Studio and created by Macy's Parade Studio, measures 47 feet long, 27.8 feet wide and 47.2 feet tall. The "Christmas Swim" episode features the heeler family celebrating an Australian-style Christmas with a poolside barbecue and other festivities.
Melanie Zanetti and Dave McCormack, the voice actors behind Bluey's parents Chilli and Bandit, will attend the parade in New York.
"Bluey, one of the world's most beloved characters, has truly won the hearts of families across all generations," said Jordan Dabby, producer of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. "We're thrilled to welcome it back for our 100th parade, continuing a cherished Thanksgiving tradition."
According to Nielsen data, "Bluey" has dominated streaming viewership in the United States for two consecutive years and currently holds the top position for the first half of 2026 across major streaming platforms including Disney+, Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, Max, Hulu, Paramount+, Peacock and Netflix.
All episodes are available on Disney+, including "Christmas Swim" and another holiday favorite, "Veranda Santa." The series airs on Disney Jr. and Disney Channel. Bluey experiences are available at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line. A theatrical film, "The Bluey Movie," is scheduled for release on Aug. 6, 2027.
"Bluey and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade have something special in common: they bring multiple generations together," said Suzy Raia, executive vice president of Global Consumer Products at BBC Studios.
The series was created by writer and director Joe Brumm and produced by Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studio.
Bluey.tv and the show's social media channels will offer exclusive behind-the-scenes content and special moments from parade week. Free downloadable crafts, pop-up activities and additional holiday-themed content will be available at bluey.tv/christmas.
