Boston police launched a homicide investigation Saturday after discovering a deceased person at a Mattapan neighborhood residence owned by Conan Harris, husband of U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley.
Officers arrived at the scene around 1:52 p.m. in response to a call and discovered the body on or near the premises. The Boston Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation, though authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the death, the identity of the deceased, or preliminary cause of death.
Property records filed with Suffolk County identify Harris as the owner of the eight-bedroom, four-bathroom residence, which spans approximately 2,713 square feet and is classified as a multifamily dwelling.
Neither Pressley's office nor Harris had released public statements as of Saturday evening. Inquiries to the representative's congressional staff did not yield immediate responses.
The Boston Police Department has not released the name of the deceased, their age, or gender. Standard protocol in death investigations typically involves notifying next of kin before public identification.
Investigators will likely examine whether the deceased had any connection to Harris or Pressley, whether they were residing at the property, and whether any crime was apparent at the scene. The property's size suggests it might be used as a rental property or multi-unit residence.
Pressley, elected to Congress in 2018, represents a district that includes parts of Boston and has built a legislative record focused on housing equity, police accountability and economic justice.
The homicide investigation remains open and active. Authorities have not disclosed whether they are pursuing specific leads, whether suspects have been identified, or what timeline they anticipate for determining cause of death.
