Pirate's Booty Helps Families Say "Yes" to Imaginative Play This Summer with Captain Bob's Summer Quest

Pirate's Booty, the baked cheese puff snack, is launching Captain Bob's Summer Quest, a free downloadable collection of activities designed to encourage families to spend less time on screens and more time engaged in unstructured play.

The initiative comes as research increasingly documents a decline in unstructured play among children, with many young people spending substantially more time in digital environments than previous generations. Studies show unstructured play correlates with measurable gains in creativity, emotional regulation and peer relationships.

"We know that meaningful moments don't require elaborate plans," Eric Bowers, VP of Salty Marketing at The Hershey Company, said in a statement.

Captain Bob's Summer Quest includes activities with names like Create A Compass, Chalk Cove and 'Aye-Aye' Spy, designed to be easy to try and accommodating of both indoor and outdoor play. The pirate-themed aesthetic appeals to both children and adults supervising them.

The brand partnered with actress and comedian Ellie Kemper and digital creator Chelsea Anderson, known for childcare content, to promote the initiative. Both are voices that resonate with parents trying to raise children in an environment designed to capture attention.

"Those shared moments are where the magic happens," Anderson said of the activities.

Pirate's Booty has long occupied a niche market as a snack that doesn't feel like junk food. The puffs are baked rather than fried, made with real cheese and free of artificial colors. The brand recently reformulated the product to increase cheese content.

Captain Bob's Summer Quest will be available as a free download from piratesbooty.com starting in July.
