Lexus has officially rolled out the eighth generation of its ES sedan lineup with three distinct powertrains: a new hybrid model and two fully electric options, all built on a multi-technology platform.
The 2026 ES 350h hybrid debuts Lexus's sixth-generation hybrid system and marks the first time the model offers all-wheel drive capability. The system pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and continuously variable transmission.
The ES 350e and ES 500e represent Lexus's first battery-electric sedans. Both are powered by 74.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery packs. The ES 500e features dual motors—one for the front axle, another for the rear—for improved traction and performance.
The entire ES family has received a comprehensive redesign inspired by the LF-ZC concept. The sedan features signature L-shaped daytime running lights framing dual LED headlights and an illuminated logo stretching across the rear in a continuous light bar.
The body is notably larger. The wheelbase stretches 3.1 inches longer, with increases in width, length and height. Front occupants gain 1.6 inches of shoulder room and 1.9 inches of hip room, while rear passengers enjoy an extra 1.4 inches of legroom.
All 2026 ES models feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.0-inch touchscreen running Lexus's latest infotainment interface. Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is now standard across the lineup.
The hybrid retains a conventional fuel door, while the electric variants feature a flush-mounted charging port on the front fender. The gasoline engine wears a more traditional front bumper design with air intakes, whereas the electric versions feature a cleaner, more aerodynamic fascia with minimal openings.
Two new paint colors—Wavelength and Copper Crest—join returning options like Caviar and Iridium. Standard 19-inch aluminum wheels with aerodynamic covers complete the exterior.
By offering hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions simultaneously, Lexus is acknowledging that customer preferences and infrastructure readiness remain fragmented.
