Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason has filed for a domestic violence restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, 32-year-old Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez, according to court documents obtained through public records.
Eason alleges that Rodriguez punched him in the face during an argument at her mother's residence. He claims she later traveled to an Airbnb where he was staying and poured liquid bleach over his designer clothing, causing approximately $92,000 in damage.
The petition also includes allegations that an associate of Rodriguez called Eason with threats that she intended to "break both of my legs" and "kill me."
Eason is seeking a court order requiring Rodriguez to maintain distance from his residence, personal vehicle, workplace and any California arena where the Rockets are scheduled to perform.
The 25-year-old was selected 17th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft and is in his fifth professional season with Houston. He has averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Allegations in legal filings represent one party's account of events and have not been tested or proven in court. Rodriguez has not publicly responded to the allegations, and court records do not indicate whether she has filed a response to the restraining order petition.
