A woman is warning others about a scam after she paid $185 to what she thought was an official passport renewal website.
The victim said she became confused by a website that closely resembled the legitimate government passport portal, leading her to unknowingly submit payment to scammers.
"Don't get suckered like I did," she said.
She said she plans to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and is exploring options to recover her money.
Experts recommend verifying website URLs carefully before entering payment information and using only official government websites for passport services. The legitimate U.S. passport website is travel.state.gov.
