Meijer announced expanded vaccination access capabilities on August 17, 2026, introducing advance appointment scheduling that allows customers to book immunizations weeks in advance across its 500-store Midwest footprint.
The new feature, accessible via rx.meijer.com and the Meijer mobile application, enables customers to reserve vaccination appointments before stock availability. The system currently supports influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, herpes zoster, pneumococcal and seasonal COVID-19 vaccines, contingent on age eligibility, medical requirements and inventory status.
Jackie Morse, vice president of Meijer Health and Pharmacy Services, said the advance booking system addresses a documented barrier to vaccination completion: scheduling difficulty among working families and people with inflexible calendars.
Customers can schedule appointments through the Meijer website, mobile app, text messaging by texting "RX" to 75049, or by consulting with in-store pharmacists.
Meijer is incentivizing vaccination uptake through its mPerks loyalty program, allowing customers to accumulate points on all eligible vaccines, including Medicare-covered immunizations.
Beyond in-store pharmacy services, Meijer operated 200 mobile vaccination clinics across the Midwest during 2025, administering over 7,000 immunizations through workplace, community organization and congregate-living partnerships. Organizations can apply for on-site clinic services through Meijer's community health portal.
COVID-19 vaccines are not currently available through advance booking, though Meijer projects availability this fall pending regulatory authorization.
Meijer operates more than 500 locations across the Midwest with its pharmacy division integrated across all supercenters and neighborhood markets. The company employs over 70,000 people.
