Shannon Elizabeth, the actor best known for her role in "American Pie," has launched an OnlyFans account that earned more than $1.2 million in its first week, marking her latest unconventional career move.
Elizabeth, recently finalized in her divorce from Simon Borchert, said she has sworn off dating and is focusing on the digital platform as a way to control her own narrative. "I'm very newly single, and I don't plan on ever dating again, to be honest," she told Bill Maher during an appearance on his "Club Random" podcast. "The only relationships I need are the relationships on OnlyFans that I'm building with all of these people."
For the past decade, Elizabeth has lived largely off savings while pursuing passion projects, primarily wildlife conservation work through the Shannon Elizabeth Foundation. Traditional acting roles have become less frequent, but she said the financial reality forced a change.
"For the last ten years, I've been living off of my savings for the most part, because I haven't been as focused on work," she told Variety. "To be able to get myself back to the point where I'm not struggling and am able to choose projects because I like them and not because I need the money—it's definitely giving me more freedom to do that."
Elizabeth frames her OnlyFans presence as creative exploration. She produces and directs her own content, which does not include nudity, and said she is still determining her boundaries. "I've got to be a little bit mysterious," she said. "I do all kinds of content, but I don't even know what my boundaries will be. I'm still exploring it, and as I become more comfortable with it, I'm going to push those boundaries."
A portion of her OnlyFans earnings fund her wildlife conservation work in South Africa. She is also mentoring other creators and considering directing projects.
Elizabeth dismissed concerns about the platform's reputation. "I know people do make assumptions about creators on the platform," she said. "But I don't go looking for it. And people have been nothing but really supportive and kind to me. I'm really happy doing it. I'm really having so much fun. I'm connecting with people."
She reflected on how such a platform would have benefited creators in the "American Pie" era. "This is something that we wanted to do 25 years ago, but the technology wasn't there yet," she said. "Now the technology is there. I just wish I'd done it sooner."
