EWTN Announces Leadership Transition in Germany: Dr. Theresia Theuke Appointed Managing Director

IRONDALE, Ala. — EWTN Global Catholic Network announced that Dr. Theresia Theuke will become Managing Director for EWTN Germany, taking over operations across German-speaking territories from Martin Rothweiler, who founded the regional division more than 25 years ago.

Rothweiler will transition to Program Director, remaining involved with the organization while stepping back from managing responsibilities. The Cologne-based operation has grown into a substantial media presence across the region.

"We owe Martin Rothweiler a great debt of gratitude," said Michael P. Warsaw, Chairman and CEO of EWTN Global Catholic Network. "From the very beginning, his vision, faith, and perseverance helped build EWTN Germany into what it is today."

Theuke will oversee all EWTN activities across German-speaking regions, including 24/7 programming distributed through satellite and digital channels. Leadership said her appointment comes as the organization expands, particularly in digital and social media where it has seen growing audience engagement.

"Martin's continued involvement ensures stability and institutional knowledge, while Theresia's experience and leadership will help advance EWTN's mission in the German-speaking world," said Andreas Thonhauser, Vice President and Chief Global Officer of EWTN.

Theuke said she is grateful for the trust placed in her and for the foundation Rothweiler and the team have built. "Now we look ahead: working with our colleagues across the German-speaking region, we want to take EWTN to the next level—reaching a new generation with the Gospel through media that is bold, credible, and inspiring," she said.

EWTN operates 11 global television channels broadcast in multiple languages, reaching more than 160 countries and territories. The organization also operates radio services on SIRIUS/XM and iHeart Radio, over 600 AM and FM radio affiliates domestically and internationally, a worldwide shortwave service, a Catholic website, a publishing division and a multilingual news service.

EWTN Germany, headquartered in Cologne, enters its 26th year of operation as a significant component of the network's global reach.
